A Pink Welcome to the Young Corona Warrior

Delhi police constable Devender Singh had tested positive for COVID-19 days after he was on duty in Jahangirpuri, one of the hotspots. The more worrying part was that even his pregnant wife had also contracted the virus. But the family was all smiles as their daughter, born on 8 May, turned out to be COVID-negative on being tested.

Not just the people in his police station, but others in the police department were also relieved at this news. So, the happy couple was in for a surprise when they came with the baby to their house.

The Times of India reports that the local police led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northwest) Vijayanta Arya reached the couple's residence and decorated the house with pink balloons to welcome the young corona warrior.

The Delhi Police top brass on the other hand also showed that it cared for its men and women and their families.

A Small, Green Wedding

At a time when an invisible virus is holding humanity hostage, a couple in Kerala's Palakkad decided to exchange vows with nature as one of their witnesses, in a wedding ceremony attended by around 20 of their closest family members and friends.

With their wedding getting postponed twice due to the coronavirus pandemic, the couple, Kailas and Suhimol, did not hold a big ceremony. Instead, they decided to mark their wedding by planting a tree sapling in the courtyard of the memorial dedicated to music maestro Chembai Vaidyanatha Bhagavatar.

Malayalam newspaper Mathrubhumi says that the newly-wed couple distributed tree saplings and vegetable seeds to the guests. It may have been a small ceremony, but it was one that the guests will not forget for a long time.
