Green Box Of Goodness

Check out five top reasons why green tea could be your health and beauty saviour.

Sip of Good Health

Deemed a miracle worker, green tea naturally contains the highest amount of flavonoid, a phytonutrient that helps improve heart health. Various researches done in recent years point to its multiple health benefits, such as prevention of cancer and cardiovascular diseases. Its anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antiviral properties and cholesterol-lowering effects, are just a few of the amazing benefits of this miracle drink.

Soothe Your Nerves

Not many know of green tea’s mood-altering benefits. Studies have shown that a cup of antioxidant-rich green brew can help calm the nerves, reduce anxiety and improve alertness. This is due to the presence of the amino acid L-theanine, which has a therapeutic effect on the mind and body.

The Beauty of It

Did you know green tea has anti-ageing properties and is therefore great for your skin? You can use it to clean and tone your skin regularly and cost-effectively. Here’s how: Cut open a used green tea bag and empty the slightly wet loose tea into a small bowl. Add a tablespoon of a creamy face cleanser/wash and mix it well. Apply this mixture on your face and neck like you would a face pack. Leave it on till it’s semi-dry (about 10-15 minutes). Gently scrub your face in circular motion, then rinse off with cool water. You can also use green tea like a toner. Just steep a couple of green tea bags in hot water and add a juice of lemon. Let it cool, then add a few drops of tea tree essential oil. Store in a clean spray bottle in a dry and dark place. Spritz it on once or twice a day for skin that looks instantly refreshed. Since it’s preservative-free, it’s best to make a fresh batch in two to three days.

Hair and now

Recent studies have shown that green tea has the potential to improve hair health as well. Therefore, off late, several well-known beauty brands have launched their specialized green tea hair care range to counter scalp and hair issues such as dandruff, hair loss, scalp inflammation, and so on. You can either buy a shampoo and conditioner with green tea extracts online or make a DIY home rinse. Here’s how: Brew 2-3 bags of green tea in boiling water. Let it cool. After shampooing and conditioning your mane, give it a green tea rinse.
