Get That Confident Smile
Quick tips on improving your oral health
Your eyes may be the window to your soul, but your mouth can tell someone a lot about your overall health.
Research suggests that various systemic diseases can be manifested in your oral hygiene.
Here are some on-the-go tips to ensure oral hygiene and to get that bright and confident smile.
Brush Twice a Day
Dentists recommend brushing your teeth twice a day with a soft-bristled brush. This helps remove plaque and tartar inside your mouth, and makes your gums stronger. Whether you go for a manual or an electric toothbrush, make sure you change it every three months or sooner if the bristles get frayed.
Go For a Fluoride Toothpaste
While many toothpastes claim they contain agents that improve gum health and reduce tartar formation, you must always check the label for the most important ingredient—fluoride. Fluoride strengthens teeth, making them decay-resistant.
Floss Your Teeth
Flossing helps remove plaque and food particles stuck between your teeth that sometimes even your toothbrush cannot reach. If you suffer from bleeding gums, flossing can help improve gum health and check bleeding.
Use a Mouthwash
Mouthwash is an effective weapon against plaque, bad breath and tooth decay. However, children should not use mouthwash, unless prescribed by the doctor.
Try Oil Pulling
This Ayurvedic practice involves swishing oil in your mouth for a few minutes, in between your teeth and along your gums, and then spitting it out. Studies show that oil pulling helps in maintaining and improving oral health. If done regularly, it can check bad breath and boost gum health.
