The recovery rate is at 48.27 per cent with 1.09 lakh COVID-19 patients being cured of their illness so far.

No exams for 3 lakh Delhi University students: The Delhi University has decided not to hold exams for 3 lakh students in their first and second year of graduation, citing social distancing norms, reported The Times of India. Students will be evaluated on the basis of internal assessment scores and previous semester marks. This system will be applicable for more than 12,000 first-year postgraduate students too. For final year students, the university would hold online open-book examinations from 1 July.

Health Ministry issues new guidelines for unlock 1.0: The MoHFW has issued new guidelines or SoPs for malls, restaurants, places of worship and hotels that will gradually reopen from 8 June. Places of worship must have mandatory hand sanitizer dispensers and thermal screening provisions at the entrance. Large gatherings are still prohibited.
Restaurants have been asked to encourage takeaway instead of dine-in. They have been allowed to operate with 50 per cent seating capacity; disposable paper napkins and disposable menus have been recommended.
Although shopping malls have been allowed to open, gaming arcades and children zones as well as cinema halls will remain closed. In food courts and restaurants, the seating capacity must be limited to 50 per cent.
Fresh guidelines have been issued for office spaces too. Any staff residing in a containment zone should inform their supervisor and not attend office till the zone has been denotified. They should be allowed to work from home. Drivers residing in containment zones too should not be allowed to drive.
Where Delhi stands: The national capital is fighting a rapid increase in the number of COVID-19 patients. After Maharashtra, Delhi now has the highest number of active cases—14,456—elbowing out Tamil Nadu, which has 12,134 cases. On Friday, the national capital crossed the 25,000-mark as the case tally stood at 25,004. In the last 24 hours, 1,359 fresh COVID-19 cases were reported in the capital even as the toll climbed to 650, the third highest after Maharashtra and Gujarat.
In view of the mounting cases, the Delhi government has sought suggestions from the public on whether health facilities in the capital should be reserved for its residents, and a decision on the same will be taken on Saturday. Delhi has already sealed its borders with neighbouring cases, fearing more pressure on the health infrastructure.
Global corona update: The number of confirmed coronavirus cases globally has climbed to 66.98 lakh while the toll is at 3.93 lakh, according to worldometer, a website that tracks COVID-19 numbers. Nearly 32.5 lakh people have been cured of the illness globally. Brazil, which has recorded 6.15 lakh coronavirus cases so far, has now the third highest number of fatalities—more than 34,000 people have succumbed to the illness—after the US and the UK.
Countries like Bolivia and Kazakhstan, which have recently eased the lockdown measures, are witnessing a spike in COVID-19 cases. While Bolivia has 12,245 confirmed cases and 415 deaths so far, for Kazakhstan, the number stands at 12,312 and 52, respectively.
Story of hope: At a time when lockdown has pushed many into unemployment, 46-year-old Yasmin Nisar of Karnataka’s Dharwad district has managed to provide employment to 20 women in her slum. Yasmin knew most of these women were sole breadwinners in their families. She was determined to get them work. So, when Deshpande Foundation, an NGO, asked Yasmin how many masks she could make, she said she could make as many as the organization wanted.
