Wrestler Vinesh Phogat’s father was shot dead by a relative when she was eight. When her mother was asked to marry her late husband’s brother as per custom, she refused. She remained resolute in her refusal, started a micro-finance business and her daughter, while growing up in the same conservative village, went on to become a world medal-winning wrestler.
