India cases and toll: In yet another record jump in fresh cases and deaths in a day, India reported 96,551 coronavirus cases and 1,209 deaths in the last 24 hours (8 a.m. Thursday to 8 a.m. Friday), as per the data shared by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The country reported 95,735 cases and 1,172 COVID-19 deaths the previous day.

India’s coronavirus tally has now reached 45,62,414 with 9,43,480 active cases and 35,42,663 recoveries. India’s COVID-19 toll has climbed to 76,271, which is the third-highest in the world after the US and Brazil. Meanwhile, India conducted 11,63,542 COVID-19 tests on Thursday.

Delhi records another peak: A day after reporting more than 4,000 cases (4,039) for the first time, Delhi recorded 4,308 cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours. It also conducted a record 58,340 tests for COVID-19 on Thursday. The national capital’s COVID-19 count rose to 2,05,482, with the toll climbing to 4,666—28 people succumbed to the infection in the last 24 hours. Of the total caseload, 25,416 are active cases while recoveries stand at 1,75,400.
