India continues to register a high number of fresh coronavirus cases every day. With nearly 19,500 new cases on Sunday, the country’s COVID-19 tally stands at nearly 5.5 lakh. As the numbers swell, Maharashtra has decided to continue with the lockdown post 30 June while Telangana and Tamil Nadu are likely to take a decision soon. Manipur, which has 730 active cases of coronavirus, has announced that lockdown will continue until 15 July.

India cases and toll: Monday morning saw the country’s coronavirus count rising to 5,48,318 confirmed cases. India now has 3,21,722 recoveries against 2,10,120 active cases, according to the latest data provided by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. In the last 24 hours, 19,459 fresh cases of coronavirus were reported across the country. During the same time, 380 people succumbed to the infection, taking the death toll to 16,475. India conducted 1,70,560 COVID-19 tests on Sunday.

How is Delhi faring: Delhi’s COVID-19 tally has surged to 83,077 cases with 27,847 active cases, 52,607 recoveries and 2,623 deaths so far. On Sunday, the national capital reported 2,889 fresh cases of the infection while 65 people lost the fight against COVID-19. The number of containment zones in Delhi has gone up from 280 to 417 after larger zones were divided into smaller pockets.
