Guidelines for Unlock 2.0: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Monday issued revised guidelines for Unlock 2.0, which will be effective from 1 July. Lockdown in containment zones will be extended up to 31 July. In areas outside containment zones, schools, colleges and coaching institutions will remain closed till 31 July. Metro services will not resume and cinema halls, gyms, swimming polls, assembly halls will continue to remain shut. Night curfew will remain between 10 pm and 5 am, except for essential services. The operation of domestic flights and passenger trains will be scaled up gradually.

India cases and toll: As of Tuesday morning, India’s total confirmed coronavirus case count stood at 5,66,840, according to the latest data provided by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. India has 2,15,125 active cases and 3,34,821 recoveries. In the last 24 hours, the country added 18,522 fresh cases to its tally. On Monday, 418 people succumbed to the coronavirus infection, taking the death toll to 16,893. India conducted 2,10,292 tests for COVID-19 on Monday. 

Shramik trains may stop running: The Shramik specials which have been ferrying migrant workers back to their home states could stop running soon. The reason: dip in demand. The Indian Express quoted an Indian Railways spokesperson as saying, “There was demand for just one train from Karnataka and that train is running today (Monday) from Bengaluru to Muzaffarpur. There is no demand for such trains tomorrow as well. We will run them if demand arises from states.” Since 1 May, 4,596 Shramik trains have been run to date.
