India’s COVID-19 tally surged to more than 4.40 lakh cases with Delhi recording 2,909 fresh coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours

India cases and toll: On Tuesday morning, India’s coronavirus tally stood at 4,40,215 cases. Against 1,78,014 active cases, 2,48,189 people have recovered from the illness, according to the data provided by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Another 14,011 people have succumbed to the infection. India added 14,933 new cases of coronavirus disease in the last 24 hours while 312 deaths were reported during the same period. A total of 1,87,223 COVID-19 tests were conducted on Monday.

Delhi’s growing coronavirus numbers: After Maharashtra, Delhi now has the most confirmed cases of coronavirus in the country. The total count stood at 62,655 coronavirus cases on Tuesday morning, of which 23,820 are active cases, 36,602 recoveries and 2,233 deaths. The national capital reported 2,909 fresh cases of coronavirus and 58 deaths in the last 24 hours.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday said that patients in home quarantine will be provided oximeters to monitor oxygen levels. In another development, many private labs in Delhi have cited the cost factor and stopped home collection of samples for COVID-19 tests, reported The Indian Express. The Centre has capped the rate for COVID-19 tests at Rs 2,400 from the earlier Rs 4,500.
