While the big cities continue to report a spike in COVID-19 cases, the number of recoveries across India has overtaken the number of active cases, for the second consecutive day. India’s COVID-19 count is now at 2.86 lakh with 1.37 lakh active cases and 1.41 lakh recoveries. The death toll has climbed to 8,102. Globally, the coronavirus tally has reached 74.58 lakh cases with 37.78 lakh recoveries and 4.19 lakh deaths.

India cases and toll: According to the latest data provided by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, India’s COVID-19 tally stood at 2.86 lakh cases on Thursday morning. A total of 9,996 fresh cases were added to the tally in the last 24 hours while 357 deaths during the same period took the death toll to 8,102. As of now, India has 1.37 lakh active cases, majority being in Maharashtra, Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh. For a second consecutive day, the number of recoveries (1.41 lakh) overtook the active cases. 

Delhi COVID-19 count surges: At 32,810 confirmed cases so far, Delhi’s COVID-19 count is showing no signs of a let-up. On Thursday morning, the capital had 19,581 active cases, 12,245 recoveries and 984 deaths. Delhi recorded more than 1,500 new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours. Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who recently tested negative for the infection, will step out and assess stadia, hotels and banquet halls that can be converted into temporary COVID-19 facilities.
