India cases and toll: For a second day in a row, India added more than 90,000 cases to its coronavirus tally. The country’s coronavirus count has now reached 42,04,613 with 8,82,542 active cases, 32,50,429 recoveries and 71,642 fatalities, as per the data shared by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

India has displaced Brazil as the second worst-hit country by the coronavirus pandemic; the US tops the list so far. On Sunday, India reported 90,802 cases of coronavirus and 1,016 deaths. The recovery rate stands at 77.31 per cent. India conducted 7,20,362 tests for COVID-19 on Sunday.

Where Delhi, Maharashtra stand: Maharashtra recorded 23,350 cases of coronavirus and 328 deaths on Sunday. With this, the western state’s COVID-19 tally stands at 9,07,212 with 2,36,208 active cases, 6,44,400 recoveries and 26,604 deaths.  

Delhi reported 3,256 fresh cases of coronavirus and 29 deaths on Sunday. The national capital’s COVID-19 tally rose to 1,91,449 with 20,909 active cases. So far, 1,65,973 people have recovered from the illness while 4,567 have succumbed to it.

Tracking COVID-19 vaccine progress: The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has announced that it would procure and supply coronavirus vaccines for 92 low- and lower-middle-income countries. “We are ready for an immense new challenge: to lead the global supply of COVID-19 vaccines and help end the worst stage of this pandemic,” UNICEF tweeted on Saturday.
