India reported 75,809 cases of coronavirus and 1,133 deaths on Monday. Nearly 11 lakh COVID-19 tests were conducted across the country

India cases and toll: After recording 90,000-plus daily cases of coronavirus for two days, there was a dip in the number on Monday. India reported 75,809 cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours and the overall tally climbed to 42,80,422, according to the data shared by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. India conducted 10,98,621 tests for COVID-19 on Monday.

Of the total tally, there are 8,83,697 active cases of coronavirus while 33,23,950 people have recovered from the illness. The COVID-19 toll is now at 72,775 with 1,133 deaths reported on Monday.

Andhra Pradesh crosses 5-lakh mark: Andhra Pradesh became the second state after Maharashtra to record more than 5 lakh cases of coronavirus. The state reported 8,368 COVID-19 cases on Monday, taking the overall count to 5,06,493. Andhra Pradesh currently has 97,932 active cases of coronavirus while 4,04,074 people have recovered from the illness. The pandemic has claimed 4,487 lives in the state, including 70 on Monday.

Tracking COVID-19 vaccine updates: A senior World Health Organization (WHO) adviser on Monday said that the global health body is in talks with India over the latter joining the COVAX vaccine allocation plan. COVAX aims to provide equal access to member countries to the vaccines developed to fight COVID-19. “India is certainly eligible, like all countries in the world, to be part of the COVAX facility and discussions are ongoing in that regard,”
