The state’s active cases per million population have climbed to 2,421; for Maharashtra, this is 2,297, followed by Karnataka at 1,845, according to a ToI report.
Kerala’s coronavirus case count has reached 2,34,928—84,958 active cases, 1,49,111 recoveries and 859 fatalities. The state recorded 5,042 fresh COVID-19 cases and 23 deaths in the last 24 hours.

Guidelines issued for reopening movie theatres on 15 October: The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Tuesday issued guidelines for movie theatres, which would reopen from 15 October. The guidelines include not more than 50 per cent seat occupancy, temperature setting at 24-30 degrees Celsius, thermal screening of movie-goers, staggered show timings, allowing only packaged food inside the hall, among others.

The World Health Organization on Monday estimated that nearly 10 per cent of the global population could have already been infected by SARS-CoV-2, the virus behind the raging pandemic. As per the WHO estimate, the number of infected people could be much higher than the 35-million cases reported so far.
Global corona update: The global coronavirus count has climbed to 3,57,03,834, which includes 77,82,697 active cases, 2,68,75,182 recoveries and 10,45,955 fatalities, as per Worldometer. Of the active cases, 66,883 are serious or critical.
