The coronavirus tests per day in the Capital will reach 18,000 over the next few days, Home Minister Amit Shah said during an all-party meet to assess the COVID-19 situation in Delhi. India’s tally surged to 3.32 lakh cases on Monday morning. More than 11,500 COVID-19 cases were reported across the country in the last 24 hours. On the bright side, India’s recovery rate seems to be improving steadily and now stands at 51.08 per cent. While big cities continue to battle the pandemic, states like Rajasthan, Punjab and Kerala have managed to slow down the spread of the infection.

All-party meet to assess Delhi’s COVID-19 surge: Home Minister Amit Shah at an all-party meeting in Delhi to discuss the sharp rise in coronavirus cases in the national capital said that the number of tests per day will go up to 18,000 over the next days. This meeting was attended by representatives from the Congress, the Aam Aadmi Party and the Bahujan Samaj Party.

On Sunday, Shah had held a meeting with Delhi L-G Anil Baijal, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan, following which it was announced that testing in the capital would be tripled in six days while 500 railway coaches would be turned into care centres. Delhi currently has 24,032 active cases while 15,823 people have recovered and 1,327 have succumbed to the disease. The capital’s total COVID-19 count stands at 41,182.

India cases and toll: India’s coronavirus tally has climbed to 3.32 lakh cases with 1.53 lakh active cases and 1.69 lakh recoveries. The death toll is inching towards the 10,000-mark—it was at 9,520 on Monday. India added 11,502 new cases to its coronavirus count in the last 24 hours.
