By the 17th century, it had arrived in the United States, and its different varieties became extremely popular over the next 100 years.
Cookies can be crispy, chewy or can simply melt in your mouth depending on the method of preparation and the ingredients used.
Types of cookies
- Shortbread cookies, in their current form, were arguably invented in Scotland. They are crumbly in texture and slightly less sugary than your typical sugar cookies. Conversely, they are richer in taste due to the butter that goes into the making.
