Whether you’re unable to head to the salon or are simply looking for easy and affordable ways to spruce up your look, here are some DIY hacks, using everyday ingredients.

Coconut oil and sugar body scrub

This is a great exfoliator for your face as well as the body. While coconut oil is a natural moisturizer, sugar works as a scrub, gently removing dead skin, dirt and make-up, while stimulating the skin cells. This antioxidant-rich scrub also helps protect skin against damage and reduces ageing.

How to: Mix 1 tablespoon of sugar and 1 tablespoon of coconut oil. Use the scrub in circular motion.

Best for: Normal to dry skin.

Coffee, turmeric and yogurt face mask

If you want glowing skin, then this is a must-try. This mask, packed with the goodness of turmeric and yogurt, helps lighten spots and marks and brightens the complexion. It also makes the skin tighter.

How to: Mix 1 tablespoon of each and apply on clean face. Leave it on for 20 minutes, then scrub it off.

Best for: All skin types.

Gramflour (besan), turmeric and milk scrub

This grandma’s recipe can work miracles on your skin, especially if you have an acne-prone skin or want to get rid of breakouts. Gramflour is a great skin cleanser too.

How to: Make a paste of 2 tablespoon of gramflour, 2 tablespoon of milk and ½ teaspoon of turmeric. Apply on your skin, and gently scrub it off when near-dry.

Best for: Oily and acne-prone skin.

Honey, almond and raw milk face pack

Best for: All skin types, especially sensitive skin.

Cucumber and lemon face mist

The perfect summer toner, this mist refreshes dull and tired-looking skin. It is packed with vitamin C from the lemons and has natural-toning properties of the cucumber. It can also be used as a mixer for other face packs.

How to: Mix the juice from one cucumber with the juice from one lemon. Chill it and fill it in a spray bottle. This can be used up to 3-4 days.
